Richard is survived by his wife, Sherry Wesson Willis; sons Nicklaus A. Willis and John M. Self; daughters Bonnie A. Johnson and Elizabeth A. Self; much loved son-in-law Jedd I. Johnson; brother Jerry D. Willis (Patricia); sisters Shirley A. Cunningham (Mike) and Brenda F. Keeler (Bobby); granddaughters Jacie L. Johnson, Jenna C. Johnson, JoAnna F. Johnson and Averi R. Richard was a man of many and varied interests. He traveled extensively and spent many happy hours enjoying his 2 favorite hobbies, fishing and golf. His enthusiasm for life was evident and people were drawn to him. Richard loved God and his family. His most favorite times were spent with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He also spent many happy hours sitting out on the deck watching the eagles and ospreys, admiring the flowers and looking at the river. Richard was a kind and caring man who touched the lives and hearts of everyone he met. He was also quite the character and brought smiles and laughter with him everywhere he went. We feel very blessed to have been able to share our lives with Richard. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to Salvation Army Center of Hope Homeless Shelter in Decatur, Al.
