Obituary for Patricia A. Thornton

Patricia “Trissy” Thornton, 80, of Rogersville gained her angel wings on February 7th, 2019, peacefully with her family and her cats by her side. She was born on February 7, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia.
Visitation will be Tuesday February 12th from 11 – 1 at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel with Frankie Raney officiating.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her parents, Ned & Hazel Wiebel and husband, Othor Thornton. She is survived by her children, Dawn Rudd, Mark (Rebecca) Thornton, David Thornton and Anita (Aaron) Westfall; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She went to college and obtained her degree in cosmetology. It was in Augusta, Georgia where she gained her certificates in Accounting and where she met her husband, Othor Thornton. It was in Rogersville, Alabama where she planted her Christian roots that would become the Godly trees for generations to remember. She carried many titles: wife, mother, nanny, friend, secret keeper, truth teller, advice giver and helper to all in need. She loved her family, church, working, puzzles, playing games, sewing, reading and cooking. The kitchen to her was like a fragrance is to a flower. She traveled the world through her books that she read and there was never a book that was given to her that she did not read.
“Trissy” loved everything and there was nothing that she received that she didn’t love, but most of all she loved nothing more than sitting down with family and having a large bowl of butter pecan ice cream. She was special to many and leaves behind a legacy of a Godly life. She taught us to remember things as they really were, to be content with things as they really are and to trust God would take care of the future. She was according to Proverbs 31 a “Virtuous Woman”, clothed with strength and dignity and she laughed without fear of the future. When she spoke her words were wise and she always gave guidance with kindness and love.
